PH5611 – Applied Epidemiology (Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases)
This course builds on basic epidemiology, focusing on the application of epidemiological principles in investigating and controlling diseases. Students study patterns and determinants of infectious diseases (like malaria, HIV/AIDS, TB) and non-communicable diseases (like diabetes, cancer, hypertension). They learn outbreak investigation, surveillance systems, disease modeling, and data analysis.
Through case studies and simulated field investigations, students develop practical skills for detecting health threats, interpreting epidemiological data, and informing public health interventions. The course is critical for preparing public health professionals to respond to real-world health challenges.
