PH5609 – Geriatrics, Gerontology and Care of Persons with Disabilities
This course provides in-depth knowledge of aging processes and the unique healthcare needs of the elderly and persons with disabilities. Students learn about physical, cognitive, and emotional changes associated with aging, chronic disease management, palliative care, and elder abuse prevention. It also covers accessibility issues, inclusive healthcare services, and disability rights.
The course promotes compassion and sensitivity in delivering long-term and rehabilitative care. Students are trained to develop care plans, advocate for policy changes, and support aging individuals and persons with disabilities in maintaining dignity, independence, and quality of life.
