NS5111 – Gerontological Nursing

This course focuses on the unique healthcare needs of older adults. It addresses age-related physiological, psychological, and social changes, and their implications for nursing care. Students learn strategies for managing chronic illnesses, mobility issues, cognitive decline (including dementia), nutrition, and end-of-life care in the elderly population.

Emphasis is placed on promoting independence, dignity, and quality of life through holistic and culturally sensitive care. The course prepares nurses to work in a variety of geriatric settings such as homes, hospitals, and long-term care facilities.
