NS3031 – Nature of Nursing
This course introduces students to the philosophical, ethical, and theoretical foundations of nursing. It explores the evolution of nursing as a profession, the roles and responsibilities of nurses in various healthcare settings, and the core values that guide nursing practice such as empathy, advocacy, and holistic care. The curriculum also includes an overview of nursing theories and models that influence contemporary practice and patient-centered care delivery.
Students will reflect on their personal motivations for entering the profession, analyze professional conduct expectations, and begin developing a professional identity. The course encourages self-awareness and critical thinking, preparing students for the more clinical and research-based aspects of nursing in later courses.
