This course traces the growth and development of mass media in Nigeria, from colonial times to the present day. It examines the introduction of print media through missionary and colonial newspapers, followed by the emergence of radio, television, and digital platforms.
Students study the contributions of early Nigerian journalists, media pioneers, and the role of the press in the nation’s struggle for independence. The course also discusses how media policies, government regulations, and technological changes have shaped modern media practice.
