BIO406PARASITOLOGY & IMMUNOLOGY
BIO406 – Parasitology & Immunology combines the study of parasites and host immune responses. In the parasitology section, students explore the biology, life cycles, and pathogenicity of protozoan and helminth parasites, as well as vectors involved in disease transmission. The immunology section revisits immune system mechanisms, focusing on how hosts respond to parasitic infections.
Practical aspects include parasite identification, preparation of slides, serological assays, and understanding immune evasion strategies. The integration of parasitology with immunology helps students appreciate the co-evolution of host-parasite relationships and prepares them for work in medical diagnostics, public health, veterinary sciences, and research.
